I'm helping set up a Harmony 550 for my Brother and having an extremely odd problem controlling his JVC TV (HD-61FN97). All other devices are responding correctly to the remote, but the TV will only repsond to commands from the remote after I manually turn it on and let it run for a minute or so. Once the TV is running I can use the activities to turn it on and off and have it controlled properly when switching activities, but if I turn everything off and try to turn it on 5 minutesd later the TV will not respond to any commands from the Harmony remote.
I have tried learning the commands from the factory JVC remote and also tried increasing the number of times commands are sent for the TV and it makes no difference.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Rob

Thanks, Rob It sounds like you need to increase the Power On Delay for your TV. Your TV isn't ready to receive commands until it is fully powered up. Click on the Devices Tab, Click Settings, Click Adjust the delays (speed settings), and increase the Power On Delay, Delay is dispaly in micro seconds 1000 micro seconds = 1 sec. If you power on your TV with your original remote and count the sec until the TV is ready to receive commands use this time you may have to fine tune it later

1st off: will the TV respond to the JVC TV remote during this 'dead time'? If yes then you are looking at possible interfence from the TV. If not and both the JVC remote and the 550 respond in the same manner then use rehaz1's method to increase Power On Delay as above.

Yes. the TV responds fine to the JVC remote at all times. It's not an issue with 'Power on Delay' as the Harmony remote will not even power on the TV from a 'cold start'. If I manually power on the TV and then use the harmony to turn it off and back on it works fine once the TV is 'warmed up'. It's just that initially the Harmony remote will not work at all to control the TV. Thanks for the advice, Rob

The database for that TV has 3 power commands (PowerToggle, PowerOn, PowerOff). Check if you have this cold start problem with both the PowerToggle and the PowerOn commands in device mode. It's possible that from a cold start, your TV supports only the PowerToggle command. Also you can try the "Confirm IR command" (under Device > Settings) to see if it will find a better dataset match.

Thanks, I have already tried all three commands and they all behave the same. I will try the "confirm IR command" option, but I already tried learning the power command from the facorty remote to the harmony and that acts the same way so I'm thinking it's more of a hardware problem but I have no idea what could cause this behavior. -Rob

Try learning the power command in RAW mode (click custom at the bottom of the page), else it will just pick the existing command from the database.
