OK so the BL works if i use my rechargeable batteries but only for the first 2 days. it doesn't work at all with regular off the shelf batts.
what's going on here? it would sure be nice to have a BL.

I actually own a 768. A had a similar problem. The problem was I was using an old pair of re-charable batteries. I tried putting a brand name of non-rechargeable batteries in the remote and that greatly improved things. At that point I got a few months of use (including backlight) out of my remote. However, before I could try a different pair of re-chargeable batteries, I ended up upgrading to a better Harmony Remote.

I would think it should work normally with off the shelf alkaline batts which it doesn't?
