Just read a thread on the Harmony forum at [Link: forums.logitech.com] in which it states there has been an update and if you have a DirectTV receiver, the HR20 was mentioned, you can update your Harmony One and have colored buttons now. Wrong shape, but right colors.

What do you mean wrong shape? On my DirecTV remote the colored buttons are circles the colored buttons for the Cable Boxes are different shapes Circle, Triangle, Square

Interesting. I had the labels as RED, GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE, but there were no icons until I renamed the softkeys "Red", "Green", "Yellow", and "Blue". Case matters ...

On the web page, at least, they're the proper shape - all circles. Let's see what happens after an update to the remote ...

So how do you add the colored button? I tried updating my remote but did not see anything. As of now my remote has the words red, blue, green and yellow that I use for the HR-21 functions. Do you need to add the image manually like channel icons and if so how is this done.

As well as all the good points in favour of the Harmony, it has some silly ones too, and this is one of the silliest. What on earth made them insist on that detail before they would present the coloured circles - which are feeble substitutes for real colour buttons anyway?

andrew: You allocate them in Activities> Watch TV (or whatever)> Customise buttons. They are provided only for TVs and certain other devices that are used for changing channels.

In the Label column if you type the word Red, Green, Yellow, or Blue, the coloured shape immediately appears in the fourth column, after the Device and Command columns. See post#3.

I only see 3 columns on my program Label, Device and command. Retyped words under label but no colored icons shown. Using version 7.4.3 never mind just made first letter capital and they popped up. Thanks for the help

Glad we got you there - like I said, one of Logi's silliest efforts - drew2k1 DID say "case matters":-)

Is there a way to have the colored button as above, but without the named of the color spelled out over it?

No, that's just another part of the silliness.

Now I actually haven't updated my HarmonyOne yet ... yes, I'm slow. :)

But my TiVo activities have Thumbs Up and Down icons, and there is no label across it on the remote LCD screen.

Are you saying that the Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow labels will appear as overlays on the icons on the remote LCD screen? That's lame behavior ...

Yes, the words will appear - unless the very latest version has changed that.

Even more silly, If you are using the software in a different language, the buttons actually need to be in that language. I had Red, Blue, Green and Yellow but only saw the text. It wasnt until I used the Dutch words, that I saw the colored buttons. Quite a bit of an oversight from Logitech. I should just be able to select a image.

I think they just did a quick hack to the software to look for specific keywords and substitute predefined images which is a lot simpler than allowing the user to choose any image.

Not saying it's the right way to do it, and they could have at least ignored case. Just trying to point out why it was probably done that way.
