So I have tried the search feature and unsure what the right search would bring up
this situation, which I am sure it has been discussed. So please forgive a possible topic rehash.

I have 2 Harmony remotes, both are 880s.

So 880 (1) is set to a DirecTV HD DVR, an Audio Receiver, and the Television.
880 (2) is set to a DirectTV HD box (non-dvr), and a mini home theater system (plays dvds, has a radio tuner, also plays sound from D* box).

For 880(2) when I turn on the action to Watch HD, it should turn on the D* box, the HD box, and the receiver. It should also set the receiver to turn the surround off, as those speakers are not connected at the moment. It does this correctly. BUT when I say Listen to Radio, it should then change the mini theater channel to radio band and then turn off surround sound. TV should go off, and D* should also. This is when it turns off all the equipment, including the receiver. In a sense, I would like for the remote to know the last state it was in and not turn off equipment that is still being used.

I have tried to figure out the logic, but cannot picture a way to make this happen. I guess I really did fail discrete math in college...lol...So help me out, I am trying to find a way so it knows to not turn off inputs when they are needed. So it sorta remembers the last state and makes an 'intelligent' decision.

I have the same issue with 880(1), so this is a complete house issue.

All harmonys know the state of each device and whether it should be off or on and which input should be selected. If it's turning off devices that are needed then there are two possibilities:

1) the device is not included in the activity and the "leave unused devices on" option is not checked. Add the device to the activity in question.

2) the device is in the activity but the power control is configured incorrectly. Determine how each device controls power by going into device mode and trying any power commands (off, on, anything labeled PowerXXX) to see if you have discrete on/off commands (on always turns it on, off always turns it off) versus a power toggle (one button that toggles power on and off). Then select the Adjust Power option for the device and make sure it's setup correctly.

This is typically caused by having a power toggle setup as a discrete ON command. The remote thinks it's sending an ON command to the component (in case it was turned off for some reason) but it's really sending a toggle that turns it off.
