OK, I'm tired of the multiple remotes and the complaints from my wife. I'm ready to come out of 19th century and buy a Universal Remote. I believe I have narrowed my selections down to a Harmony remote.

Now, I'm asking the guru's on this web site. Which remote will work best with my present equipment, and any future purchases, the Harmony One, 880, or the 670. My current equipment lineup is a Samsung HLR-5078 DLP, Oppo DV-981HD DVD, Dish Network VIP622 DVR, and a Bose Sound system. My son has the same TV, just larger, and a Direct TV HDDVR. He told me his 670 handles all commands for all of his equipment, except his PS3. But that's another issue.

This should be a no brainer for some folks, but I would really like your thoughts.

Thanks in advance.

All Harmonys will operate almost anything; if any Harmony model will operate a device then they all will.
The only points of choice are things like layout and construction.

All Harmony models will control the equipment just fine - they all share the same component database. The differences are in the buttons (number, type, layout), LCD screen (color, size) and battery (regular vs. rechargeable). Some models (like the 659, 680...) have a Sound and Picture buttons which are shortcuts to the Sound and Display devices used by an activity with their own separate button configuration. Be aware that the Bose system may not work with the harmony or any other universal remote.

Sounds like I can let my wife pick the one she prefers and I'll be OK.

Thanks everyone.

Your Bose system may work if you select the Bose model "321 GSX" as a workaround. See this thread: [Link: remotecentral.com]

Thanks to everyone who responded. I purchased the One and it took less than 30 minutes to setup. And all of my equipment models were listed in the Harmony One database.

Thanks Again!

Enjoy your Harmony One. I've been using Harmony remotes for a long time now, started with the 659, moved to the 676 and then 880. I'm really tempted by the new Harmony One...

Then go for it. I've been using the 885(0) for the last two years and the One for for the last month and as far as I am concerned there is no comparison. The One is streets ahead in all respects, buttons, screen, lay-out, feel, but best of all it works every time. My combination of scart leads, (it's a European thing), and a Panasonic TV with it's daft way of accessing imputs gives multiple remotes nightmares but support have over-come these problems and it is quicker and consistent, which was a problem with the 885. I am really pleased with the One and it is everything the 885 should have been especially considering the price.

That's great. Just a side note for your son, if you get one of these:

It will allow the Harmony remote to control a PS3 and it works great.

Then go for it.

Thanks David, I think I will.
