Can you solve the problem with the Help button? If so,
then increase the inter-device delay of the TV. Its PowerOn
command is probably partially clobbered by the commands
for the other devices.

Let me start by saying thanks again for being so helpful with this.
If you're reading this, you've probably read my previous (rather long) post about the guy having the PowerOn set to toggle. Anyway, I corrected that, updated the remote, and tried it out. I pressed watch tv, and tv and dvr same on like they should, and then I turned the tv off with OEM remote, then tried watch dvd.......dvd player and AV receiver came on, but not the tv, and repeated pressing of watch dvd activity changed nothing, and YES, using the help button solved the problem, so what is this thing with the inter-device delay of the TV, and how should I set that up? Thanks! Let me add that I am not turning this tv off with the oem remote to prove that I shouldn't only be using the Harmony(which is ideal, I know),but because I'm understanding that it SHOULD be able to "live" with the original(at least for now haha). Anyway, now I'm not leaning towards a trip to circuit city to return it like I was awhile ago, and I hope that doesn't change!

A) Yes, the setup in the jpg is correct.

B) When using the Harmony Interface, please put your "Adventurer" hat on and don't be afraid to explore all the features. With the Client S/W interface, the delete function is the "garbage can" icon at the top right of each Devices and Activities. With the website interface, the "Remove" functions are at the top of each Devices/Activities columns.

C) There are many possibilities why the "Press the same activity again" feature does not send the discrete commands. Here are a some:
1) Feature not ported yet to the new kid on the block (Harmony One).
2) Device not deemed to support the discrete method. I tested the Samsung HLP-5063 and it's deemed.
3) Device not configured to use the discrete method. You fixed that.
4) Power On delay too long. It think it must be < 10 sec. Your 10 sec (10000 ms) default is too long.
5) Command clobbered because the inter-device delay is too short.
Note: With the Client S/W interface, the device delay configuration is under Device > Settings > Adjust the delays (speed settings). See this thread for an excellent explanation on delays: [Link: remotecentral.com]

Thank you again......I really appreciate it. So, what should I set the delay at? Oh, here's another weird one, that also makes me think this thing is defective. Anyway, I pressed the watch tv activity today, which should have simply turned on the Directv receiver and the TV(just like it did without incident last night), and it would not turn the TV on, and the help button did not do anything. When I got to the question of "is the tv on now?" and I told it now, it would try again, and fail, and ask me this several times. I gave up and turned it on with the remote that does what it should........the one that doesn't cost $250 and came with my Directv receiver. Any idea why it would just not work like it should when it did last night? This isn't part of the other issues I've been having, so it's getting tiresome. This is something that WAS working.Thanks.

O.k. I'll throw something else in the mix.........I tried watch TV activity AGAIN, and it turned on the DVR, but not the TV.......help button did not do anything. Just for fun, went to the device, and tried the PowerOn button for the TV, and that didn't work, even though it is configured that way, AND, both PowerOn and PowerOff worked yesterday before fixing the configiration that I told you was wrong. So, I tried the Toggle button(what the hell, right?), and it turned the TV on. Now I realize ny Tv supports both methods, but then I used the toggle to power it back off. After that(and I sure can't tell you why) I tried the PowerOn and PowerOf buttons in the device, and they both worked! Still can't get the TV to come on with watch TV activity though............
Oh yeah, for whatever it's worth, if I turn the tv on with the oem remote after all this c**p, and go to current activity(watch tv), and press the off button, the tv and dvr both go of, as they should. This just seems sporadic to me.

One more thing to add.........tried the other 2 activities I have that involve the tv, and everything in those activities EXCEPT the tv powers on, and help button does nothing to fix it.........same thing when I get to the question of "is the TV on now?".........I keep telling it no, it tries again, and asks me again, and I keep telling it no. THEN, for the heck of it(again) I try the PowerOn button in the TV device, and nothing. Then I try toggle, TV turns on. Toggle again, TV turns off, I immediately try PowerOn again, now TV turns on, and off with PowerOff. WTF?? I don't get that at all. All activities that involve the TV worked as they should last night. Any advice appreciated. I'm ready to take it back, that I know.

Either the remote configuration is hosed, or your TV is hosed or you have a weak IR signal.

Try deleting and re-adding the TV device to see if you can get consistent behavior from the TV poweron and poweroff commands. If you can't then you'll have to use the power toggle.

You wondered earlier if you had a bad remote, and if you had time to get it exchanged. This sure sounds like a bad remote so if you're in time get the exchange - I did, and it solved the problem.

It works fine with the oem remote and the Directv remote,so it isn't the TV. The configuration isn't hosed.......I've checked. It's obvious how to delete a device, but when you add a new one , how do you add it to the activities?

I meant the internal configuration in the firmware gets hosed sometimes and does random strange things. Probably safer to delete the activity, then the device, re-add the device and recreate the activity. I'd try that before I do anything else.

It could be a bad remote.

I also think you should delete the TV device since you have been mucking around too much with its configuration. When you delete a device, the affected activities will show a "Set Up Now" or "Need Setup" option. Just click it to fix the activity. It's like running the activity wizard again.

You should also reduce the power on delay of the TV device. The default is 10 sec. This means the Harmony won't send any command to the TV until that time as elapsed from a cold start or after pressing the Help button.

You can determine the required power on delay by using the original remote and a stopwatch. Starting with the TV off, turn On the TV, wait say 3 sec, then send a next input command. If the TV did not change input, then you need more than 3 sec. Else, less than 3 sec. Repeat this process in increment/decrement of 1 sec. This obvious procedure is explained in post #6 of this thread (which you probably did not read since you asked "what should I set the delay at?"): [Link: remotecentral.com]

This is really weird.........I called logitech, and was on the phone at least an hour and a half with the guy. We added a new device(another TV), did something in the power delay, etc. etc. Through process of elimination, the guy determined that the discrete power commands for my TV don't work consistently, and his thoughts were that it's highly unlikely the remote itself, but the commands. Even though my TV supports the discrete commands(but the original remote uses a toggle) that it's just not working like that all the time........something like that. Still sounds weird to me........it worked fine the other day with the discrete commands. BUT, he set it up differently, and it works perfectly, as long as I don't bring another remote into the equation, and if I do, the help button will get me back in order. At least right now it's perfect. We tried the discrete on/off commands in the TV device on the Harmony, and they would not work, even though it was configured that way, like what was happening yesterday, BUT when I pressed toggle, the TV would do the opposite of whatever state it was in......it worked. THEN, if I tried the discrete power commands in the TV device, they would all of a sudden work???? That seems weird. The guy though maybe(and he really meant maybe) that something was going on with the memory in the remote.........commands not ported right, or someting like that, but thought it was more the TV not liking the discrete commands??? I don't know. Right now, here is how it is set up, and it works perfect, at least for now. These screen shots of the current power settings for the tv are in order:

So now, does this all make sense??? It seems to make sense to me, except for the fact that it worked the other day with no toggle commands in the equation, but the tv has still been turned off with the oem remote a few times, and that is a toggle, so maybe that screws up the thinking on the remote???? I know if we keep the oem remote out of the equation, that it seems there will be no problems, but the impression I was getting from a few people was that if I was going to keep the oem(wife's remote) in the equation that setting it up completely for discrete commands(no toggle anywhere) would be the answer to that. Maybe it is, but this thing with my TV and the commands is screwing that up, or it's still a defective remote, or???? If all this makes sense, please let me know. Thanks again!

O.k. just to make extra sure, I deleted the activity, then the device,re-added the device, and recreated the activity, and put it back to discrete power on and power off, and no change.........it turned on the DVR, but not the TV, and help button got me nowhere. Let me add that I had turned it off with the Directv remote before that, but that shouldn't have made a difference........it still sends a power on command, correct? Or does it still think it's on from the last activity?

So, I put it back to the settings that I showed with the screenshots in the previous post, and it works fine again........still don't get what was going on with the power copmmand when set up with discrete commands, and no toggle involved, unless the guy at logitech is right, and my tv just won't work consistently with those type of commands. That seems weird though, but I sure don't know.

Oh, and thanks to both of you for putting up with this and helping me, I really do appreciate it!

No, that mixed up setup is wrong. It's teasing the devil. If you want to use the toggle command (PowerToggle), then in page 2 (2nd jpg) you must also select the toggle method (One button on the remote for turning it both On and Off).

That's what I thought too........it's only logical, but this guy says that's how you're 'tricking' the remote. He had no idea why it wasn't working with the discrete commands so this was his 'fix'. I heard it's hit and miss with them, so I'm not surprised.

EDIT: Well, I called Logitech again and asked for second level support, because this stuff is just a little weird, and yes, you were right about that setup, but hey, you knew that already lol. Anyway, I explained everything to this guy and he thought it was something with the way the remote was communicating with the TV when using discrete commands, and that there was something he could change in the 'language' at his end that would most likely help with that, He said if it didn't work, I could simply use the toggle method again, but using discrete is better(which everyone has already told me). Anyway, he did whatever he did, I updated the remote, and (at least for now), it is working the way it should being configured for discrete commands, so that's cool. He told me if I really wanted to, that I could go into the custom settings and add another PowerOn command, so that everytime that command is sent, it always tells it to power on, and likewise for off, and that might help with my "co existing oem remote" situation. Not no sure on that one......think I'll just work on the wife getting used to the Harmony.

Well, it's back to not working again........TV isn't turning on. This is getting really old! I'll call them once more in the morning........my TV supports discrete commands. There is a person on the Logitech forums that has the same TV, and his works. If Logitech can't fix it, it's going back to Circuit City. Can I ask, what is the main disadvantage of using it with the toggle power, as everyone says it's better with discrete commands? It's the only time it has seemed to work, but supposedly works with discrete commands as well.
