Trying to setup my Harmony 885 with my new Samsung AV-R720 AV Receiver. The problem with the receiver is that it requires two seperate buttons to get to the correct combination of Function/Input Mode.

- For example, to get the PS3 working, I would set the Function to DVD and the InputMode to HDMI1.

- To get the XBox 360 working, I would set the function to SAT and the InputMode to HDMI2.

- To get my satellite video/audio, I would set the function to SAT and the InputMode to Optical2.

The problem is that the wizard for creating/editing the activities only prompts me to change the function. I can manually add a command at the end to send a InputMode command but how would the remote know how many to send to get it to the correct input?

Is there anyway to achieve this two step change?

Most AVRs will remember the sound Input Mode assignment for each input function. You need to set that only once on the AVR.

Yeah but my receiver seems to group the inputs for each function. For example, in my post above, the 360 and SatelliteTV both use the SAT function but one uses the HDMI2 input mode, the other the Optical2.

I can't really change this either as there are only 2 HDMI's; DVD and SAT and 2 Optical's; DVD and SAT.

Based on the default Adjust Input Settings for this Samsung AV-R720 device, it's quite likely that it uses a custom input selection script/routine written by tech support. You could ask support to create this custom routine but it will vary from customer to customer. Once the custom routine is applied, don't touch the input setup.

Another solution is to add a clone device that would use the "InputMode" cycling command. The SmartState will track the input mode provided the input mode list is consistent regardless of the selected input function. The Adjust Input Settings for main the device would use Method 2 (discrete method) to select the input function, and the Clone device would use Method 1 (Cycling) to select the input mode. Don't forget to set the power settings of the clone device to "no power button" so that only the main device controls the power. Use the activity add feature (Yes, but I want to add more control of options and devices for this Activity) to add the clone device.

I tried the dummy setup but couldn't quite get that too work. I've put a request into Logitech CS but am still awaiting a reply.
