I have the DishNetwork VIP622 DVR and want to reprogram the "Media" button to the "DVR" button.

Can this be done? I did a search, but came up empty.

Thanks

No. You can't assign commands to the "Media" button.

I'm surprised. That's poor planning! lol

It's not poor planning. The Media button has a specific function for the remote - it brings up favorite tv channels and disc lists. It's no different than the activities, devices and help buttons in that regard. Allowing IR commands to be mapped to that button would interfere with its primary function.

Its a shame that those who have no need for this Media button can't use it for some other purpose. Its the only button on the remote that is COMPLETELY useless for me.

Poor planning, poor design, whatever you want to call it. I WANT to interfere with its primary function... lol

It would be nice and it COULD be done but it would require a LOT of extra coding for very little benefit.

I was a software jockey in a previous life so I understand the coding required to have a button like that available sometimes and sometimes not available, so I don't blame them for not doing it. Just map the DVR button to the LCD.

... and just use the "Media" button as a glow button (more conveniently placed than the real glow button).
