Hi,
I setup my 895 for the IR7243 IR->x10 controller (IR7243 is the UK version of IR543 )

On my remote, I get buttons such as:
Light1
Light2
On
Dim
which means for example I have to press two buttons to turn On Light1 (Light1 + On)

I was hoping to get single-press buttons such as:
Light1On
Light1Off etc

Questions
1) Do these single-press button configurations exist somewhere in the Logitech database?
2) Can I learn new x10 IR commands from an existing x10 remote?
I have a Marmitek EasyTouch x10 remote as described here:
[Link: intellihome.be]
However when I try and learn from this remote, the learning software does not appear to recognise any commands.

Any help/suggestions appreciated
John

1) Try all the commands in device mode.
2) Only if it sends IR commands. The Harmony remote can NOT learn RF commands.
You can manually teach a sequence of 2 commands using RAW mode (select "custom" at the bottom of the learning page). However, if you don't have another appropriate IR remote to teach from, then you can use the new activity button sequence feature. The feature is currently limited to 5 commands per sequence and 10 sequences per activity. The feature is under "Activity > Customize Buttons > Add Sequence (bottom left)".

You're right. I forgot that my IR/RF7243 converts both IR & RF -> X10.
The x10 remote doesn't appear to send proper x10 IR commands (only RF) when in X10 mode. It transmits some type of IR command, as the keys on the 895 lit up when in learn mode, but it must just be noise.

The activity sequence feature wont really work for me .
It would turn off all my other devices (TV, Receiver etc)
I want to be able to control my lights without messing around with my AV setup.
Is there any way around this?

I dont currently have another x10 remote to teach from.
Is there any way that someone can upload single-button commands to logitech's database?

Thanks
John

Hi
The problem I have is that when I switch Activities, all unused equipment gets powered off.

Is there an actvity option somewhere to "leave unused devices powered on"?

Thanks
John

Yes, it's in the Activity > Settings > Change Options. However, instead, why not add your IR7243 device to all activities. This will allow you to control the lights within any activity.

Note: To add device(s) to an activity, select "Yes, but I want to add more control and devices for this Activity" (in the Activity > Settings > Review Settings for this Activity).

To elaborate on jlet's answer - you don't need to switch activities. Just add the x10 controller to all of your activities. Then you can define a sequence to send the various commands and map those to hard or soft buttons within each activity.

I nearly forgot. All Home Automation Device types (including light controller) have an option (in Device > Settings) to select the Activities that use this device. Just select all activities. This is a lot faster than adding it one activity at a time using the activity add feature.

How does one do this?

I have the 880, and have successfully taught "Unit code-ON" and "Unit code-OFF" raw IR commands to it using a sequence from another universal remote. I did it this way because it was before I had the capability to set up sequences on the 880.

The IR543 works flawlessly with the commands... 1-On, 1-Off, 2-On, 2-Off, etc, all the way up to 16. If someone lets me know how to upload these to the Logitech DB, I will (if it hasn't already been done).

Only support (database police) can modify the common database. Your learnt command(s) are local to your configuration. They may migrate to the common database when the database police has a chance to investigate them.
