I think the Samsung LCD tv is causing interference. The IR remote works when the TV is off. With the TV off I can change a channel on the VIP722, turn the TV back on and the channel is changed.

YIPEE!! I figured out the issue. It's the stupid energy level thing. The TV was set to medium, I set it to low and BINGO...
Now is my electric bill going to go sky high?
