I just got my new Samsung HLN TV with the new update from Samsung that allows it to receive discrete codes.

I spoke to the very helpful staff at Harmony Remote and they sent me the following instructions on how to add the discrete code to my account.

If your Samsung DLP HLN/HLM can accept discrete input signals, please do the following so that the Harmony will use those discretes.

1. Choose 'More Options' beside the Samsung DLP on your Harmony home page.
2. Then choose 'Change the Setup of this device'.
3. Change the language in the drop down list to 'Samsung Television 2'. (It will be the second from the top of the list)
4. Click 'Select'.
5. Choose 'A button on the remote for On, and a different button for Off'.
6. Under the heading ‘Select Power On Command’, choose ‘IR:PowerOn’ from the drop-down list and click ‘Select’.
7. Under the heading ‘Select Power Off Command’, choose ‘IR:PowerOff’ from the drop-down list and click ‘Select’.
8. Choose 'I go directly to the input I want (usually for Stereo Receivers, Amplifiers, etc.)'.
9. Ensure that the inputs list is correct and click 'Next'.
10. Choose the input signal from the drop-down list that matches the name beside the heading 'What command do you use to get your device to go to this input:'. (The first one is 'Antenna'. Choose 'IR:InputAntenna' from the drop-down list)
11. Click 'Select' and repeat for each input.
12. Once you are finished, please do a quick check. When the wizard is finished you will be taken to your Harmony home page.
13. Update your Harmony Remote.

Worked for me!!

Hello

My HLN-617 does not have the discrete codes. I thought this was a feature of the Tantus (spelling?) series.

Can Samsung upgrade an existing TV?

Thanks, Frederick C. Wilt

It would be best to contact Samsung and ask them if your model can be upgraded

This thread was very helpful in setting up my HLN-5065W. I have all activities working perfectly, except that intial power on does not set the Samsung HLN to the proper input. My Samsung supports discrete codes as it responds properly after power on and using the sst-659 help button to get things in order.
I've tried setting the power on delay as high as 15 seconds, but no luck. After everthing is powered on then I can switch between activities and everthing works fine.

Mr Freeze - what are you settings for device timings on your Samsung DLP? Anyone else with any ideas?

Your power-on should be set the amount of time it takes for your TV to start up. (to get a picture) Should be aproxx. 25 Seconds. No IR's are being recieived during this power-on phase.

Thanks, Swordfish. Set the power on delay to 30 seconds and that did the trick!!
