The single Activity approach would be to enter as "additional commands when the activity starts" the series of commands that turn the speakers on (or off) from the Tools menu, and as "additional commands when the activity ends" the series for off (or on).
In any case it's a rule of using Harmonys that you hide all the original remotes!

I have an 46xbr4 and the speaker toggle that you speak of for me is "Theater Mode". This turns off the TV's speakers and redirects volume control from the TV to the receiver. Works great with Sony remotes, not so good with the Sony + Harmony + HDMI.

I had a ton of problems with this and it was a pain. I have a strange work around for mine. With TV + PVR the harmony would ocassionally turn on the receive. Could not find a fix anyway I tried. So I gave up and added the receiver to the activity waited 10 seconds and turn off the receiver. Not perfect but works.

Also had problems with TV + Receiver + PVR. As the Sony TV seems to sense with the receiver is on and automatically turns off the TV speakers. However it did not alway work. Probably a timing issue, however when I adjusted it, make things worse. So my work around for this issue was to turn on the receiver to the "TV" input, -this typically turns off the TV's volume but not always. After a few seconds the activity changes the receiver's input to something else (SAT in my case) and then it turn back to TV input. This last change ensures the the TVs speakers are turned off. A real pain but the only solution I could find.
