I cannot find the codes in the Logitech database listing for this LCD TV for designating "TV Speakers" or "Audio System" under Audio in Home Directory/X Cross Media Bar or under Options. Does anyone know where these can be obtained?

I hook up my TiVo HD box via Component directly to the Sony and all my other components (DVD players, etc.) via HDMI to my AV Receiver and HDMI Out to the set. As the first option utilizes the TV's speakers and the second my Klipsch 5.1 HT system, I would like to set up the Harmony 880 to include the switch from one state to the other as an additional command sequence on Power On or device switching.

Can anyone help me here? I've just posted this on the Logitech Forums and wanted to "cast my info net" wider.

Try a different Sony model like the KDL-46X3100 and test all its commands in device mode. Its dataset has additional commands like "SpeakerToggle". Also remember that you can teach missing command(s) from the original remote.

Thanks Jlet. Setting up another Device based on another Sony with perhaps a different code set makes sense. I may find what I need there.

This is not a must have but a "real nice to have" if you see what I mean.

Question for you jlet, what type of TV is the KDL-46X3100? I tried adding a few other Sony's before adding yours and none of them had the command set yours did. Perhaps a Rear Projection type? Just curious.

I have the KDL-46X3100 added as a device now. Can you tell me if there is a way to "copy" that SpeakerToggle command from one device (the 46X3100) to another (my KDL-32XBR4) when the remote for former is missing? I don't see how I might do it. I don't want to leave a whole unwanted device on my 880 simply to utilize just one command off of it.

Any suggestions along these lines?

1) I don't know what the KDL-46X3100 is. I found it by checking similar models to help another member complaining about the lack of discrete commands in the KDL-52X3100 dataset ([Link: remotecentral.com]).

2) You can ask Harmony support to copy the "SpeakerToggle" command, or do it yourself if you have another learning remote. There is also an unsupported IR Analysis Center "Backdoor" method but heed all the Warnings. You would also need the Pronto hex code. The "Backdoor" method is a "Use at your own risk" and is not for the faint of heart: [Link: remotecentral.com]

If you find a way get those discrete codes, please, post it here. I'd like to do the same thing. It's not very critical to me as I only plan to use it to connect a camcorder but it would be nice to have anyway.

Just create a new activity where you designate the TV speakers when it asks "I will control the volume with..."

For example "Watch Camcorder".

This won't work by itself since TV speakers are normally off. Which is why I need a code to toggle between tv speakers being on and off (or discrete codes).

You can do this with or without a discrete code if you create an activity. Send either the discrete command or the string of commands necessary to turn the speakers on and off at the beginning and end of the activity.

This might be something I'm unfamiliar with - how do you send a sequence of commands at the end of an activity?

Same way you do it at the beginning. When you finish the activity setup tell it "Yes, but you want more control" and you'll get the option of adding individual commands to either the beginning and/or end of the activity

The Sony KDF-50E2000 has the SpeakerToggle function. I'm using it as it sounds like you want to.

I have 2 activities; WatchTV (uses TV speakers) and WatchTV + rcvr (uses AVR). In the second activity I put a toggle in the start sequence and then another upon exit.

Thanks, akirby. This actually makes it possible (and fairly practical).

As far as SpeakerToggle, there is a IR command in XBR4 IR set but it doesn't do anything. My old TV (crt xbr 250) had a button on a remote to shut off the speakers. However, XBR4 requires bringing Options on-screen and choose Receiver vs TV for sound. I believe SpeakerToggle is from the previous models.

TVAddict, did you try the "SpeakerToggle" command from the KDL-46X3100 dataset? Chazcdc_54 seems to have indicated that it works on his KDL-32XBR4 TV.

With apologies for re-opening an old thread, I've just tested this on my KDL-46W3000, and the SpeakerToggle command from the KDL-46X3100 dataset _doesn't_ work :-(
I'm gutted! I honestly thought this forum had given me the answer to this problem - I spent four hours playing with the set-up of my new remote last night. To expand upon the problem, the original remote doesn't have a dedicated key to toggle the TV speakers on/off, and the key sequence to do this (via the Tools menu) is _different_ for speaker on and off. Should the off sequence be used twice, the PIP mode is activated. My other half is going to love that!
As I can't guarantee that no other remotes will be used to change the setting, I've set up two separate activities to turn speakers on and off (not affecting other devices). This seems to work - use it before the main activity. But it does seem to go against the tenet of the single activity approach. Short of finding a discrete code for this option (if there is one), is there any other approach?
Maybe I _will_ have to hide the other remotes such that I can rely on the Harmony remembering the state of the internal speaker toggle.
