I cannot get the Harmony 880 to work with the Bose Lifestyle V20. I can't even train the remote from the Bose remote.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Sitedev

I figured out my problem. I had to go into the System configuration on the V20 and turn on IR. Now is okay.

I'm having the same problem, I have the V30 and Logitech 1000. I set the bose to TEACH in the systems settings for Remote and after I LEARN the buttons through Logitechs software and update the remote, I then turn the IR setting from Teach to On but it still does not work.

Well Good Luck, I think its a problem with Bose's end. b/c the controller detects the key in learn mode with the Logitech software. The problem is after you update the controller with the new commands, the Bose display cannot read the IR signal from the Logitech controller even with the IR turned ON in the Systems Menu of the Bose V30. Let me know if you have any luck, and I'll continue to try myself and keep you posted if I get this to work.

yeah..Logitech couldn't help. Once i'd told them that it had learn't the BOSE codes and double checked that it could still pump out IR to other devices (therefore proving the remote still actually works), they pointed me straight back to BOSE again.
I think i'll ring BOSE back up and mention the fact that there are a few of us that are having problems here and ask them whether they are confident in the fact that the BOSE can truly read ANY IR from the display module....I'm just wondering whether it can at all.
It might be that no Universal Remote will work at this moment.

I'll keep experimenting as well...you never know. It took me ages to get the BOSE and Harmony lined up properly to do the original teaching.

Oh good. I'm not the only one having trouble. I have a URC MX-950 and can't seem to teach it commands either. It's as if it doesn't see the flashers from the Bose, even when it's in teach mode.

I did ask Bose about this a while back... here was their response:

"Thank you for your inquiry. In order to use a universal learning remote it is necessary to configure the Lifestyle system to be used with IR.

Here is an instruction on how to do this. Turn your television on. With your Lifestyle remote, press the System button to bring up the Bose settings menu on the television screen. Scroll over to Remote and press Enter. Now scroll down to IR Control and set it to Teach. The IR signal that will teach your universal learning remote is emitted from both the front of the Media Center and from the Lifestyle's IR emitter, so hold the learning remote to the front of the media console, or to the IR emitter.

Generally speaking, you would set your leaning remote to learn mode to begin teaching it the Lifestyle remote codes. We do not have specific instructions on how all learning remotes work. Your best bet is to check the learning remote's owners manual for instructions on how to set it with another system. Now press any button on the Lifestyle remote. It is necessary to repeat this procedure for every button on the Lifestyle remote. The universal remote will need to have every button of the Lifestyle remote programmed into it. Once you have finished setting up the learning remote, change IR Control to On in your Lifestyle system. Feel free to let us know if you have further questions."

I may have to feel free to let them know. Please post any success stories. Thanks.

I'm just curious how sitedev got it to work on his 880 and V20. I just sold my 880 to my coworker, I'm gonna borrow the 880 from him and see if I can teach the buttons to the 880, maybe its the H1000. I probably won't be able to try till this weekend. I'll keep you guys posted.

Yet another reason to avoid Bose for home theater use.

I had the same problem with the V20 and the Harmony 880. However, I tried entering a different Bose product (the 321 GSX) in the database lookup and the remote mostly works.

Hope this helps.

I'll try that when I get home tonight on my V30 and Harmony One. Also, you used the 321 GSX set up on the harmony, what about the setting on your bose V20. Did you just turn on the IR under the systems menu on the Bose unit or did you have to set it to teach, and learn each individual button to the harmony.

Harmony Level 2 support was able to fix me up and got my V20 to work from the 890 Pro.

I don't know if it'll help but my incident number was 080205-001959.

Now I have to work on getting the 890 to also control my second zone!

Ok, finally got around to trying the set up the V30 with the 321 GSX Series II settings. It works great with those setting with my Bose V30 and Harmony One. Also I called Logitech support and gave them AlGriefer's Ref # 080205-001959, the tier 1 tech was not very helpfull and wanted me to conatact Bose to get there "Hex Code" so I will do so sometime later this week, but for now it works fine with the 321 GSX Series II button config. I believe its a problem on Logitechs side not Bose, I think the database for the Bose V2o & V30 are not correct thats why it don't work under those settings but it does under the 321 GSX II. Thanks to greenbay76 and AlGriefer.
