Could you please let us know if that took care of the
issue?

Nope....doesn't fix anything related to the display. Tried it with my 550....no change at all.

Mine neither. This is obviously a First World problem, but it's still pretty annoying.

Does anybody's actually look like it should?

My 520 looks the same, it has been updated to the latest firmware and I am using the latest software.

I called and talked to Logitech tech support, and it seems that this is just the way it is. Which is a bit underwhelming.

My 550 also has the crappy fonts. It seems Logitech pulled a fast one on us by making the screen look much more crisp then it really is. I actually bought an extra 550 for my parents and was worried that they may have trouble reading the text, since they are in their 60's and the font looks pretty bad.

I just got the 550 from Best Buy. Same thing... Thin font, chopped off Activi. And the blue backlight, although looks cool, is a bit dark. I just turned 40 and my eyes are not what they used to be. I am annoyed.

Frankly the remote is frustrating. However my previous remote is even more frustrating. So I just went from one sucks ass to a little better situation.

I read the UK version has amber for the back light. I think that's a better deal contrast wise. Now I can understand why the light is a particular level. HT rooms are dark, who wants a bright display? I think there should be a brighter mode.

I have the 550 and also very disappointed with legibility (my display looks like your weak. lo contrast, lo res display also). Looks crappy, and feels crappy (buttons) imo. But I don't even really like the layout either, so I am looking to change it.

I can't believe I am going to give them more of my money, but the call of The One is too strong! :)

At the risk of going off topic, I will. I'm frustrated with the reliability of the 550. I'm on my third unit - the first two were replaced under warranty. And I STILL have some of the same issues I had with the first two. I just ordered the H-1, so the 550 will soon be relegated to the bedroom.

I gave up on the Harmony 550. The blue lighting makes for low contrast text and the text is tiny. I complained to Logitech when I first got the remote, and they said they would pass my comments on to their designers. I think it is a shame that they continue to sell the 550 in its present state. I bought an 880 off of eBay, and there is a world of difference in the display, although I'm not fond of the buttons.

It seems that choosing a Harmony is full of compromises! I have a 676, and wanted to get a unit with a better display and still have decent buttons. The Harmony One looks nice, but I am not a fan of having a docking station, plus it is pretty expensive. Best Buy has the 550 for $50.00, and if it had a display as crisp as the one in all the review photos, I would have bought two!

Oh well. Good problem to have in this economy, I suppose.
