In March of 2007, Logitech communicated that the ability for multiple IR commands to be assigned to a single button was scheduled for release by the end of July 2007.

In response to feedback from other customers, Logitech will also be introducing additional button & remote customizations. This functionality will allow Harmony customers to create a sequence of up to 5 commands to any devices included in a given activity and the creation of up to 10 sequences.

To ensure that the restored functionality fully meets expectations, and that the new functionality meets the needs of other Harmony customers, Logitech is extending the test cycle. As a result the release date has been changed to the end of August 2007.

On behalf of Logitech I apologize for the delay, but hope that you understand why we have made the decision.

This update will be available both through the software as well as the URL you provided. I am confident the support team will be able to help you resolve the button customization issue you describe as preventing you from using the software to program the Harmony remote.

There will be an announcement on the login page, once the feature has gone live officially. This notification was simply a heads up for those people who were interested about the feature in the past.

There will be a limit of 5 commands per sequence. There are a couple of reasons we have decided to implement this value, and I assure you we did discuss the matter before determining a limit.

... (snipped) ...

I understand this will not accommodate all possible scenarios, however it is already a significant increase in functionality from the previous feature.

It will not have any delay functionalty at launch of this feature. However it is something we are evaluating for a future release.

Good news. Certainly better than the awkward workarounds we're using now!

At this rate we may get a truly flexible Harmony remote by sometime around 2017. :-)

Yes it is good news, although vastly overdue. I'm currently unable to update my 520, and have been for months, because I will loose all my multiple device commands.

However, based on past experience, what existing feature will they break with the new release!

I remember back before I had Harmony remotes that some macros I used were as long as 15 commands. I'm curious if a second macro can be called from within the first macro. Yes, I know you could create an endless loop it the second on called the first. I avoid that by avoiding that.

I doubt it, but you can still learn multiple commands as one command in RAW mode which would give you the same effect.

Well, I'm having zero luck with this. Perhaps someone can help.

I own a DirecTV HR20 DVR and I like to go to the Guide with the HD-only filter enabled.

To do this, I need to hit the following sequence:

Guide > Guide > Channel Down > Select

I've typed as fast as I could in RAW mode and cannot get it to memorize anything past the first two Guide commands.

Then, I set up a macro in a Sony universal remote and tried to get the RAW to learn it that way with, again, no luck.

Any ideas? I see that the function is coming for my 550 next month, but it's really bugging me that I can't solve this on my own.

Well I've been waiting for this functionality to be returned for ages, as I had several pseudo devices setup to handle the multiple key presses.

Inspired by the post about using RAW to learn them, I decided to revisit the RAW route - having failed misserably before.

All I can say is that this time, I had success first time! I have relearned all my key press sequences as RAW, and they all work!

I was initially confused because you effectively have to learn them 'twice'. The first time, next to the newcommand will still be 'analysed', this is wrong, and you need to learn RAW a second time, so that the Analysed changes to RAW.

I was surprised that this worked having failed at this many months ago. But now I am no longer waiting for the next release... all my problems with multiple key presses have gone away, and now I can press one button for...

Subtitles (on/off)
TV Guide
Planner (recorded content)
Movies
HD Channels

Admittedly, none of the above use more than 3 sequential commands, but they all worked, first time!
