My TV has discrete commands for inputs. So I use "mehod 2" and list only those inputs I am using (Input 4 for TV, Input 5 for DVD). Yet I always seem to need to use the help button to switch inputs, especially when I turn on the TV. Thus, when I turn on the TV to watch TV or a DVD and the TV's input was on the opposite input when I turned it off, it does not change the input until I press help and the remote asks me if that "fix[ed] the problem". Usually, merely pressing help causes the inputs to change. Any suggestions.?

Are you sure each activity is setup to go to the specific input? That is, when "Watch TV" is pressed does your activity send the discrete "Input 4" command or the "Input Next" command?

If it's the latter, you should run the wizard for each activity and have it go to the discrete input rather than "Input Next" since "Input Next" will likely be out of sync when the TV is powered off and back on.

You probably need to adjust your delays - especially your TV power on delay from the sounds of it. Does it also not change inputs when the TV was already on?

Good point. It is only a problem when I am powering on the TV not changing activities. So I will increase the input delay time. Thanks

Increase the power-on delay for the TV, not the input delay.

How does increasing the power on delay help the situation. In other words will the change input signal "wait" while the TV is powering on or will the change input signal be send while the TV is powering up (now more slowly) thus negating the input signal? Thanks

The Power on delay is the time between sending the power on command and any subsequent command - in this case the select input command.

If the input selection problem only occurs when the device is first powered on then it is usually due to the power on delay being too small.

If the input selection problem also occurs when switching between activities that already have the device on then it is usually due to the input delay being too small.

As you specifically stated that the problem occurs when the TV power son this would suggest that it is due to the TV's power on delay being too small and needs to be increased.

Input delay is the time it takes the device to recover and accept more commands after changing inputs. Power on delay is the time it takes the device to power on and accept any commands (in this case the initial input switch command).
