Not sure if anyone has any suggestions, but here's my situation:

-Panasonic Plasma TV, using 3 inputs:
1. Component 1 (for DVD)
2. HDMI (for Series 3 TiVo)
3. PC (for Mac Mini)

Harmony has discrete commands for the PC and Component 1 inputs, but not for the HDMI input (and neither does the original remote).

In setting up activities in the Harmony software, you have to pick if you TV has either separate/distinct buttons for its inputs, or only one which sequentially cycles through inputs.

Given there's no discrete button for HDMI, I could just use the "cycle through inputs" option. However, cycling through inputs never brings up the PC input, which has to have it's own command.

If I include the PC in the available inputs in the Harmony software, when switching between activites, the TV always goes to the wrong input, since the "select next" command doesn't count the PC input which the Harmony is expecting.

Should anyone have followed this all the way to here, suggestions??

One way is to use the cycle method for all the other inputs (leave the hdmi input off the list) and create a second device (clone of the TV) that only has one input (PC) setup as a discrete using the button that switches to PC mode. Or you can just send a PC command when you enter the Mac Mini activity and send another command to put it back where it was when you leave the activity.

If you can go directly to the input just before HDMI then you can set each activity to use the appropriate input and then your "Watch TV" activity should be setup to go to the input just before HDMI.

Then use the Harmony activity wizard for the "Watch TV" activity and when prompted to add additional commands simply add the TV's "Input Next" button such that when watching Tivo, the TV will first go to one input (the one before HDMI) then immediately to the next (HDMI).

Then for your PC and DVD activities have them use their usual discretes (ie. your PC activity will go to the correct PC input, etc).

I used this method on my Samsung DLP TV that has discretes for everything but the DVI input. I no longer need this "hack" because I now use an HDMI switching receiver and my TV is always in the DVI input so I no longer need to toggle the inputs regardless of the activity.

Hey gwar!

I followed your great instructions and everything is perfect now! Thanks so much.
I should have been able to figure that one out on my own...
