I get this error message with a 688 when I press 'Update Remote':

Updating Remote: Configuration Error

This problem must be resolved before you can update the remote.

HarmonyDevice::This key is already associated with an element of this collection(457)Context: HarmonyRemote=Harmony688

I rang tech support and they promised to fix it. When I updated my remote, their 'fix' had deleted all my customizations for 14 devices and 10 activities, leaving just the default settings. These defaults don't work correctly for my kit, so I went in and reconfigured the most important devices and activities (it takes quite a while).

When I tried to update my remote, I got the same error message again!

It's really sad - these remotes have the capability to be really useful, flexible tools, but they are severely compromised by dreadfully poor software, in terms of bugs, usability, and functionality. Having to store the configuration online, apparently without any backup or archive, just makes a bad situation worse.

Wow,
14 devices and 10 activities!
I had the same problem that they "fixed" the same way but I only had 4 devices and 5 activities.
I can feel about 30% of your pain!

dlorde, I had the same msg with my 628 - the fix seems to be that when you remap a button in Additional Buttons (the 4 or 6 surrounding the LCD) you have to blank out that same already set function farther down the page listing...so, if you want to have MENU come up as the top left button on the first screen of commands, you have to eliminate MENU from where it occurs alphabetically down in screen 4 or 5 which you'd get to by pressing NEXT....
Whacked? Yep. Oh Well.
