I just had a new system installed. I added this new PVR with the model no. from the box (HR20-700S) to my devices. I cannot ge my Harmony 676 to control it (even in Device mode.

Secondly, I have a Sharp LCD model 46D92U. The installer plugged my DVD player into input HDMI 6. I checked my remote and it doesn't have a discrete button for Input 6. When you manually add this name (Input 6) to the list of inputs for the TV, the drop down only goes to "Input 5". the next drop down choice is "Input next" So now when I press the DVD activity button, it does not go to input 6. Any sugesstions? Thanks is no

First, go to the HR20-700 device and try to Confirm IR Language. It may just be set to a different address and that will fix it (you'll have to press a few buttons on the DirecTV remote). If that doesn't work, delete the device and start over.

The missing HDMI discrete input is common. Apparently when the TV manufacturers added HDMI inputs they didn't always add a corresponding discrete input command. You used to be able to select Input 5, then give it an additional InputNext command (this is called a pseudo discrete because it's more than one button but it's always the same sequence). I think I heard the new software might not allow this. If not, call support and see if they can do it for you or if you can find a discrete pronto hex code for Input6 support can add it for you.

Thanks for the reply. I'll call Harmony support re the input issue. How do I access "confirm IR commands"? Once I the put the original remote behind the Harmony (or vice versa) what do I do next? Regardsinf deltin the device and starting over, I did this several times using different variants of the model number. Is there any way to search Harmony's data base to get the exact name of my PVR as Harmony lists it (ie is it "Hr-20" or "Hr-20700" or 700s etc?)

First, go to the HR20-700 device

It should be an option under the HR20-700 device in the configuration software.

Before I read your reply to my post (which I very much appreciate), I caaled Tech support. They suggested a different solution; device>More options>learn>custom> Mark the power toggle button>learn raw. She said that I only had to use thjis with one button and all of the commands for the PVR would be transferred. Is her suggestion correct or should I go with the "Confirm IR". And i still do not understand why if I am giving this device the sam name as other users, It does not work initially.

Also, since I am new to this direct TV PVR, how do I program into the device and to the Harmony a 30 second skip (as with my old TIVO)? Thanks

That will only learn the power button in RAW mode which should fix the power button but would not fix any of the other buttons. Confirm IR language will fix all of the commands to work with the proper IR address. That may not fix it but it's easy enough to try.

The 30 sec. skip on the Tivo was a hack. On the HR20 it's a built in button on the HR20 remote. On my 720 it was mapped to the >>| button.

Thanks aKirby. I may be naive about the folks at tech support, but I am amazed that they could provide such erroneous info. on such a fundamental issue. Well the lesson I learned is that I should ask this forum for advice rather than rely on tech support!

I had absolutely no problem programming the exact same HDDVR model on my 670. I have come to expect incompetent tech support in every aspect of daily life. That is why Remote Central is so great. If you have that model DVR, you know how bad DirectTV's support is. All they know how to do is tell you to reset the receiver 5 times, then they resend your programming 5 times, then they give up.

This is a total shot in the dark, but try typing the model number this way: HR20-700S

Stupid me!. The Direct TV installer, set the box for RF rather than IR. So I reset and it works fine (although the buttons respond much slower than the OEM remote (even at 100 delay time) Any thoughts on this?
