What is this button for? Does it allow you to add an additonal activity? Can you use this remote to control 2 DVDs ( a Blu-Ray and an OPPO) in the same system? Thanks

That button brings up the Activities menu. You can have many activities defined but only 3 can be mapped to the hard buttons. The star button lists all of them on the LCD for you to choose from.
And you can have as many DVD players as you want (practically speaking). You just set up a different activity for each one (or you could put them both in the same activity although i don't know why you'd want to do that).
You have complete control over the number and type of activities and which devices are included in each one.
