I was wondering how I could control the subwoofer +, subwoofer -, center +, center -, surround + and surround - keys with my harmony 550 remote.

On the yahama remote those buttons are accessed by pressing the "amp" button and then the appropriate number pad button (numbered 0-10, "+10", and a blank).

Does anyone know if the amp button sends an actual command to the receiver, or just changes a mode on the remote so that the number pad sends out different codes if the amp button has been pressed?

Does anyone have experience with this or a similar receiver?

Thanks,

James

Place your hand in front of the remote, then press the "amp" button to determine if the "amp" button sends an IR signal.

Normally pressing Amp (or CD, DVD, TV, etc.) just puts the remote in a different mode so it sends a different command for each button. Just like selecting a device on a harmony. That said, do what Jlet suggested (press the amp button with the remote covered, then see if the volume buttons work.
