I've got a 676 which I'm ready to throw against a wall. It's such a love/hate relationship -- but mostly hate right now. I bought the remote in late 2004. It was replaced in 3/2005, and I had to buy a new button pad for it in 3/2006. Now I'm getting an intermittent condition where the LED stays on (and presumably the remote is sending an IR signal) until I press any key on the remote. I'm guessing it's the reason for my recent two to four DAY battery life. I can't reproduce it on command, but when it does happen, hitting any key, anywhere on the keypad, will stop it. It's as if a key is stuck, but since any keypress, anywhere on the remote, resolves it, I'm not convinced it's a contact problem with the button pad.
I've re-flashed the device and no luck there. So before I call up Logitech (don't know what they're going to do -- it's well out of warranty), I want to give the underside of the button pad a good cleaning. Any tips on what to use on the black rubbery-conductive stuff?
