I have an 880 and I have finally got my harmony to not power down my dvrs when switching activities, however now, my tv powers off when switching between activities. Both activities require the tv to be on. I guess its toggling the power when I switch activities.

Any ideas on how I can remedy this?

Does your TV have discrete power on and power off? When you setup your TV with the wizard what "power options" did you specify? Depending on if specifiied "one button powers on and off", "separate buttons to power on and power off", etc that might be the problem. If you specified the "separate buttons" option but selected the same "Power" (toggle) button then Harmony will thinks it's okay to always send the power command since, if the TV is already on sending "Power On" is a no-op. However, in the event that the "Power On" is actually a "Power toggle" then the Harmony doesn't know this and it will power off the TV.

If this is the case and your TV does not have discrete power buttons, then change the TV settings to "one buttons powers on and off".

You can go into the device menu for the TV and press the "Power On" button while the TV is already on to confirm whether the "Power On" is actually a "Power toggle". Some devices have multiple "Power" buttons.

Then you may want to check Remote Centrals discrete hunter to locate the discrete power on/power off for your TV. If you find them, send them to Harmony support for them to add to the device. Discrete power commands are always preferred over the power toggle command.

so.. i looked into the setup, and it was set for a single, button, but I did figure out what the problem was. it wasn't a problem with the setup, it's a behavior change i made.

lately i had been just turning the tv off manually (by manually i mean pushing the power button on the tv set itself) and setting down the remote, then when I want to watch tv again, i turn it on manually, then find the remote. when i'd go to change activities on the remote, the harmony thinks the tv is off, when its actually on - since i manually turned it on, so it toggles it off.

so here is what i did. turned the tv on manually, then turned it off using the harmony remote. then i chose an activity - the tv would turn on. when i go to switch activities the tv stayed on. when i am done watching tv i use the harmony to power it off, when i am ready to watch again, i just choose the activity and it powers on.

hopefully that makes sense... anyway thanks for the suggestions!
