Ok, I've gone from a 659 (2 years use) to 550 (20 days use) and now to the 880. I returned the 550 since the numeric keys were too small and the remote never felt right in my hands. The 659 will be reused in another room since it still works fine.

I've now used the 880 for several days and it seems pretty decent. Although, if Logitech wanted to pay me some money I could give them a better design which would be their best ever remote in a heartbeat. For the life of me, I still can't figure out why they make drastic changes between remotes just to make them look cooler rather than adding anything that is actually better.

My biggest complaint about the 880 is that I can't fathom why they decided to leave no space between buttons-- do you have any other OEM remotes or universal remotes that don't leave space between buttons? I'm sure I can eventually get used to it, but it seems insane that all of the numeric buttons, transport buttons and menu/info/etc buttons are packed together. Did they actually ask potential customers if they thought this would be a good idea?

I thought the 550 custom buttons had a better feel to them, but the 550 had only 4 compared to the 880's 8. The 880's peanut shape is definitely more comfortable than the rectangular 550. The color screen is a nice touch but it's just eye candy. The charging station seems fine, haven't had any issues with it yet.

I certainly wouldn't pay $250 for the 880, but I was able to get it for about $150, so that seems ok. The 550 was $85.

After 1.2 years with an 880 I still have to look at the keypad to see which button to press. On the other hand, I don't even need to look at my URC MX-850 to do anything; I know where everything is and it feels natural.

That is only a problem with the 880 and 688. The other 6xx, 5xx and 7xx remotes have separate buttons that can easily be identified without looking.
