Hi

I'm stuck. Having helped my father-in-law buy his Home Cinema setup about a year ago I advised him to get a Harmony. He loves it and everything has been working fine until he added a new STB that has an HDMI out and now needs to use Input 5.

Essentially the problem is that I cannot get the discrete codes to work for the tv inputs. Discretes definately work for Input 4 (and I am fairly sure used to work for Input 2, but I've since lost the original setup I did for him).

I've tried to use the feature that allows a Macro to be written to drive the absolutely infuriting way of doing this from the orginal remote e.g. "InputSelect", "DirectionDown" 4 times and the "Select". The trouble is that it is hit and miss, sometimes I get the correct input and sometimes because of how slow the tv responds I get the wrong input.

Can anyone offer any advice. I've had a trawl through the forums and there seems to be a grey art to getting Sharp TVs functioning with discretes and I cannot find anyone who has the same model as me. The way I see it I have three options

1) Find the discrete code and do a conversion of the HEX to get it working for the Sharp

2) Update my device from the Harmony database - maybe they have updated the codes for this TV

3) Buy a new remote / TV!

Additionally if anyone has successfully got a discrete power on / power off code for this TV that would be fab! Currently it power cycles.

Is the tv responding slowly or is it the remote? I had a similar problem with my cheap telefunken lcd tv which there are no discrete input codes for and it scrolled through very slow to the desired input. I had to adjust the inter-key delay and the input delay, also selecting less repeats can speed up the movement of signals so it gets to the desired input quicker.
Harmonys are great remotes, but it IS hard work tweaking them so they work fast with all your components.
Good luck with the discrete input codes.

Increase the inter-device delay for the TV if it's missing some commands.

I checked the IR dataset for your Sharp LC-37GA6E device, and it has a few discrete input commands. Try them in device mode. If they work, then reconfigure the "Adjust Inputs" accordingly.

Thanks for the replies. I've been playing with the Harmony website and I think that I may have it cracked; the inputs for the LC-37GA6 (no 'E') are definately more representative of my model. When I am next at my father in-laws I will give it a go; also try the recommendations above and post my findings back to the group

Mr Kirby,
I had previously successfully programmed my Harmony 679 with my old TV. I now have a Sharp 46D92U 46" LCD in thae tv rm. The DVD now owks foo of input 1 and TV (direct TV using a Hughes Tivo) runs through input 2. On the original Sharp remote you press the "input" button until you get to the correct input. I cannot program my Harmony to automatically go to the correct input when I press the activity button. SO when I pree the Watch Tv activity, the TV does not automaticallyt go to input 2 and when I press the watcg DVD button the tv does not switch to input 1. I told theharmony remote that the origianl remote needs to be pressed (ie using its "input" button) sequentially to change inputs. It still doesnnt work. To make matters worse the Harony now cannot even control my Toshiba DVD player which it was able to do on the old setup. Finally, can you please remind me how I dadd commands to the LED screen on the Harmony as it has beenm some time since I had to do it. Thanks in advance
