I just got a 670 model. It works great EXCEPT for one thing: Adjusting the picture controls on my Sony Bravia TV.

On the orignal remote, controls such as "contrast" would increase or decrease constantly as long as you hold down the arrow key.

With the "constrast up" for example, the setting with adjust by only one increment for each time the key is pressed, unlike the original remote.

This happens with the constrast, color, and sharpness settings, but the brightness controls works like the orignal remote, increasing or decreasing as long as the button is held down.

Does anyone know why this would be, and have any suggestions.

First suggestion is to set the picture controls correctly and leave them alone. This is best done with a calibration DVD like Avia.

Secondly, it has to do with the length and repeat rate of the commands. Try adjusting the number of repeats and the interkey delay first. You might need to learn the arrow keys again in RAW mode.

Some commands emit as long as you hold down the key, others only emit once per key press. This is determined by an internal (not user accessible) "continuous/single" flag (don't know the correct term). As far as I know, only Harmony Support can change that flag. Currently, on my Sony TV (KV-34XBR800), only the "Contrast" commands are set to single action. All the others (Brightness, Color, and Sharpness) are set to continuous action (like in your Brightness controls). However, when I click "Troubleshoot" next to my TV device, the S/W mentions that updates are available for this device. I have not done so. So maybe after the update, these commands will behave the same as yours, or maybe the faulty "Contrast" commands will behave properly.

I'd love to leave the picture controls alone, but I find a lot of variation from channel to channel , and whether or not the source is SD or HD.
I'll try the suggestions above. Where can I get the DVD mentioned above?

You can get the Avia DVD at any large dvd retailer like Best Buy, online and maybe at some home theater stores. The idea is accuracy, not necessarily personal preference, and I think it's likely that you've never had it set accurately thus the need to continually futz with it. Try setting it with the Avia DVD and leaving it for 2 or 3 weeks. Chances are you won't need to change it again.

Another good DVD calibration disc is the Joe Kane "Digital Video Essentials" (DVE) which I used to calibrate my TV.
