(Newbie background- Skip to next paragraph for question)
I just purchased a Harmony 520 to try out the capabilities and WAF for a single remote. In general, the capabilities are good but I have the usual complaints on script based interface vs. table, slow downloads etc. but I see that for the money, it’s the best around. It took me approx 4 hrs to set up my system and considering I had to delete the default TV the site selected (Olevia LT-37HVS) and rebuild all my activities around a “nonlisted” LT-37HV, it was worth it (BTW- the LT-37HV was actually in the database w/ the correct input assignments and menu hierarchy, On initial setup, the software assumed the later S model originally that has and entirely different remote even though I had not typed the S in the model #!). I figured out the unique time delays my system required and although tedious and unnerving that changing one small thing can upset the apple cart on other settings, I think I can deal with it long term. Although I’ll be upgrading to either a TC30 or 550 before the return period on the 520, there’s one key feature I’m stumped to implement on any of the Harmony remotes. Without being able to control lipsynch, the family will see this as a wasted (though noble) effort.

My Marantz SR5600 has a lipsync function where the timing is normally saved in the receiver according to input. Since using the Harmony remote, it seems to reset to zero offset for all inputs when I power it up. Some of the OTA HD broadcasts I receive are 80-120ms off and this is a key adjustment ( Don’t get me started on how wrong this is!). To set it w/ the original remote, I need to change to “AMP” mode on the receiver, hit “lipsync” and then use the left & right direction buttons. If the function times out (10 sec?), it must be repeated starting w/ the lipsync button. Otherwise, the L & R direction buttons do nothing. Commercial DVD’s are usually fine at zero offset although recorded HD DVD’s can be off similarly (analog is always fine).
How do I best program and access this function across multiple activities? Currently, the lisync command is not listed w/ the device but I know how to program it into the LCD menu. For HDTV, I don’t use the direction buttons for anything but they would be needed for navigating DVD menus and couldn’t be assigned permanently to the lipsync operation for the receiver.
Is the best way to use Device and teach the Receiver device to add the “Amp” select, Lipsynch and assign the + - times to the *clear, #enter buttons (not used)?
Other suggestions for controlling lipsync across multiple activities?

Thanks ya’ll,
This forum is indispensable for dealing w/ harmony remotes!

Unless the lipsync feature always starts from the same spot, you'll most likely have to do it manually just as you suggest - teach the commands to the A/V receiver device and map the necessary commands to hard or soft (LCD) buttons in each activity.

If you can create a sequence of commands that always get you to the right lipsync setting for each activity you can add those to the activity startup sequence, but it doesn't sound like that's the case.
