I've been playing with my Harmony 1000 since Feb. 1st. It works great, just like I would expect. The programming was easy to understand. Tweaking to perfection was a breeze. But... the battery life is much less than what I had expected. I'm getting about 36-48 hours per charge, depending on my level of usage. I have the back lighting set to 30 seconds. This appears to be the default time. I realize that I can adjust it to a lesser time, but why have such a nice LCD color screen if you can't actually enjoy it for a few seconds per use?

I thought that I had read in some of the press release materials that battery life was expected to be about 7 days between charges.

Anybody having similar experiences? Any suggestions?

Jon

The first few days I had mine it was dead at the end of the evening. Maybe the 5 or six program uploads plus me never putting it down had something to do with it. By setting my screen at twenty seconds and mid brightness I can get two days heavy use. I also turned off the RF, not sure how much of a difference it will make but I don't think it can hurt. My suggestion, keep the charger handy and dock it there every night. Li-Ion batteries don't have the usual memory problems and in most situations will last about two years regardless of charge cycles.

I'll try adjusting the screen to 20 seconds. (I can live with that!) I didn't see the adjustment for the screen brightness, but I'm sure I can find it. And, turning off the RF is a good idea. I'm not using it... that's one less drain on the battery.

Yeah, I've also found the battery life to be extremly short!
Part of the problem is, the LCD remains ON the entire time while it's connected to your computer while making changes/adjustments. After making a few updates back/forth to test it out, the battery is almost dead. One of many faults with this remote, (negative) review to come soon...

Has anyone tested to see if lowering the brightness increases the battery life? I've only had my remote for a few days, but I've been very disappointed with the battery life!

Thinking about getting a Harmony 1000. Can the remote work from/in its recharge base if the batteries are dead? If so, does it have to be pointed at the componets it's controling (IR only) with its recharge base attached in order to work?

It works for me on the base. Although it does need to be pointed at the device(s).

I am thinking about buying the Harmony 1000.

How difficult is it to program?

I have the Marantz 5000 black and white screen.

Does any one have regrets??

I am getting about 24 hours battery life out of the cradle with VERY little use of the device. This is MUCH less than I would have expected.

Anyone getting more?
