I'm trying to set a custom activity for my Logitech 880, to set night-mode on my home theater system.

I need to enter the set-up menu, arrow over, arrow down and change a setting, then exit the setup menu... my question is: how can you set the remote to perform non-device-specific commands (the down-arrow and right-arrow commands, specifically)?

The arrow commands(usually called DirectionDown, DirectionRight etc) are actually device specific...ie the commands are different for each device.

To send extra commands during the activity start and/or end sequence, re-run the activity setup wizard and when it asks if the setup is correct select "Yes, but I want to add more control". You will now get a screen where you can add commands to the activity start and end.
