Hello,

I got an 880 last week and have spent some time here and there programming it. Today I realized that the buttons I thought were not working (volume down, record, pause) actually do work, if I press them in hard enough.

I assumed maybe I had wrong codes for the volume down, but record and pause work only when pressed really hard on both my cable dvr box (scientific atlanta 8300) and hughes satellite series 2 tivo.

So I'm coming here to ask, is this remote bad or is it strictly the codes. Play, FF, reverse all respond with a light keypress, but record, pause require a hard press, very hard. Also, volume up and mute work pefectly with light keypresses, but volume down requires a very hard keypress. I've tried learning raw commands and changing the delays. Any ideas?

So further testing leads me to believe its the remote. Why?

I press glow so everything dims out. Then I press 'play' and the lcd lights up.
I press glow so everything dims out. Then I press 'pause' and nothing happens. I press 'pause' really hard and it lights the lcd. Same goes for record, stop, and volume down.

*sigh*. This will be my second harmony 880 return. The first wouldn't charge on the cradle.

Sounds like a bad 880.

I returned my first 885 for the same reason, Stop and Channel Up would not work unless pressed very hard.

Have you sent them to harmony to have them repaired, or did you simply take them back where you bought them? Its better to send them back to us because the replacement *should* be a quality working remote. If you take them back to bestbuy or wherever you bought it, then its possible you won't get a good replacement because they all come from the same basic shipments.
