My Scientific Atlanta 8300 does not support the 30-second skip. Very annoying, and doesn't accomplish the objective of making me watch commercials.

Before we conclude that it can't be done with a Harmony 880 or 720, please consider the following:

1) Allow learning a button that will signal FF n times. For me, n=3.
2) Provide us with the ability to specify the duration of FF3, then revert to "Play". (Similar to our present ability specify the duration of the on/off and input select signals.)

Or, is there another work-around?

In a conversation with support earlier this week, I was told a modifiable duration was coming in an update soon. They had no further details such as would it be in a drop down list of pre-determined values or input manually. I was trying to get a 3 second duration for a specific function. I learned in raw mode successfully once only, the rest of the time I got errors during the learn. Support said right now it's difficult and they expect the duration function to help.

I see 120 views of this thread, but only one reply. Based on that, the Harmony people must believe that few are interested in the features I described.

If having these features is important to you, please submit a reply, at least saying "Me too".

I don't really need it since my HR20-700 has it built in, but I'd be happy to support your request.

Me, too!

I would like it so I can do a multiple sound down clicks in some activities that have a mismatch of levels for my amp.

In my case I need n=20.

Not since I ditched that piece of junk SA 8300HD DVR and replaced it w/ a Tivo Series 3 HD DVR which supports 30-second skip natively.

Here's my review of the SA 8300HD for anyone tempted in leasing one from a cable company:

I'd be interested, granted that all commercial interruptions don't go over or last less than 30 seconds. Otherwise it would make this feature a bit of a nuisance...you'd have to rewind or fast forward regardless...which I do now anyway. Still, that sounds good. For now though I have my skip key bound to the "live" function on the original remote.

To skip commercials you would hit the skip function multiple times (4 times for 2 minutes, 6 times for 3 minutes, etc.). I do this now with my HR20-700 and it works great (when the HR20-700 actually works that is).
