Well I have bought a harmony 550 just for my lG 37 inch lcd, xbox 360 and bose 321 and maybe in the future digital television receiver. Now here are my problems:
I put the sound through my bose 321, not via tv. If I want to turn up volume I have to switch to dvd first and then put up the volume, instead of leaving it on tv and turning up volume. If I turn it up then the tv volume goes up, but there is no sound because that is going via the bose. How can I change this so when I leave it on tv I can turn the sound louder or softer, without changing to dvd ?
How can I program the buttons correctly, I am going nuts to get this thing working... can anyone help please ????
regards,

Rick

Sounds like you're using Devices, not Activities. When you're in Device mode the remote is mimicking the OEM remote - only controlling one device at a time. It's only used for troubleshooting or finding a seldom used command once in a while.

You need to set up an activity for each unique device combination (TV without the bose, TV with the Bose, DVD, Xbox, etc.). Then you tell it which inputs are needed on each device (if applicable). In this case for Watch TV with Bose you tell it that you use the Bose for volume control and the TV for changing channels. When you select the activity it will turn on the TV and the Bose (if necessary) and the volume controls will control the Bose and the channel controls will control the TV.

You can remap any programmable button to any IR command for any device in each activity.

so you use the activity then ? it worked. so that is great. Only when I use activity to switch between dvd and tely it switches the bose off first. Is this a normal procedure ?

Only if you don't have the bose configured for the Watch TV activity.

When you select an activity you're telling it which devices you want to use and which inputs should be selected. Make sure each activity has the correct devices.

If the Watch TV activity does include the Bose, then you may have the Bose power buttons configured incorrectly. Go to Device options (in the software, not the remote) under the Bose and do Adjust power buttons. If you have one button that toggles the power on and off choose that option, otherwise choose one button for on and one for off. You can go into Device mode and try all the power commands to see how they react (if it's already ON does ON turn it off?) so you know what to configure. If you have a device that uses a power toggle (one button for on and off) but you tell it that it has a button for on and a different button for off it will cause the behavior you described. If you have a dedicated discrete ON button configured then the software will resend that when entering an activity (just to be safe because it won't hurt anything). If you use a toggle then it won't resend the POWER command because it knows that might turn the device off.
