Just read my manual for my TV because I was trying to figure out if the DVI input has HDCP (it does), and I noticed that you can set up "Auto tuning" - an example would be pressing the "DVD" button on the original remote and having the TV go to CMP 1.

Currently, when I switch between activities, the TV cycles between inputs. Is there a way to get it to go straight to the ones I need? I have found (on the 880) when I click "device", then "TV" and go through the choices, "Input RGB" gets me straight to DVI. None of the others work except "Input toggle" and "next input" (both just cycle the inputs).

Looking at the original RCA remote, it has VCR1, VCR2, DVD, SAT/CABLE. All of these can be set up in the TV menu to tune to a channel or an input.

This is the remote: #13 points out some of the buttons such as DVD etc...

I would like the TV to automatically jump to the correct input when I select an activity (ex: pressing "Watch HDTV" gets me the CMP 1 input). I think I am on to something here, and I just need a little push to get it sorted out...

Thanks!
Jason.

I checked your RCA D61W130 TV device and the database has many discrete (direct) input commands. This does not mean that all RCA models will support them. In your case, you said that it supports only the "InputRGB" (double check that). Even with only one direct input command, the direct method is still preferred over the cycling method. You can create pseudo direct input commands by using a real direct command (anchor point) followed by one or more "InputNext" cycling commands. Reconfigure your TV device Adjust Inputs to use the direct method by selecting the "I go directly to the input I want" option (under Device > More Options > Adjust Inputs). Click the "My device needs more than one command.." to add the "InputNext" command(s) after the direct "InputRGB" command.

Note: The maximum numbers of commands if 6 (meaning no more than 5 "InputNext" commands). So check that you can cover all your desired inputs with this limitation before changing to the direct method.

Thanks for the help. I have been at the programming/learning for about an hour now, but I am not done yet.

Here is what I have accomplished:
- I set the TV menue for "Auto Tuning" for the specific inputs
- I had the 880 learn the commands
- when I click "Device" and find the input (ex: Input Video 1), the TV will go to the specific input

However, when choosing an activity, there is no changing of inputs! This is making me crazy. One, I can't believe that I am learning after a year and a half that I can do discrete inputs, and two... I can't get them to work! I have done "troubleshooting", re-run wizards, etc etc.

Everything else is still working fine, and hasn't changed (devices, delays, etc)

What next?

Jason.

Does Help fix it? If so, increase the interdevice delay. If not, re-check the input configurations for the device and re-run the activity setup and re-select the right input.

I GOT IT!!!!

I went back and picked "My device needs more than one command.." even though it doesn't. I found the new "learned" Input Video 1, etc (had a space instead of Input Video1) and put those in. There was only 4 "auto tuning" options on the TV itself, so I had to use the "Input next" trick for front (which I use for a Laptop input Activity).

Everything works perfectly. No more sitting through all those inputs!!!

Thank you so much, jlet (akirby, too).

Jason.
