I started this thread as a summary for the method to
use, I had to look in several threads to find out the
process, I hope this will be helpful to some of you.
If you lost your original remote, and the default
harmony codes aren't working for you, but you happen
to know the codes for the functions you want to
implement; here is how to do it:

=================================

1-find the IR codes . This is the only difficult part,
you might never be able to obtain this information if
your device is particularly rare, on the other hand,
you might find it in the manual, so take a look there
first. If not you can still send an email to the
constructor or look here in the discreet
codes forum
or in the pronto file area.

2-If the IR codes are in pronto format, then you're
good to go. If not you'll have to convert them. The
advanced harmony menu is supposed to let you enter
simple IR codes but the option doesn't work for me
(the web interface returns me an ASP error).
To make the conversion to the pronto format, your best
option is to use makeHex.exe.
To be able to use it, you'll have to know how your
particular manufacturer conversion is done, you'll
have to search the forums a bit, I suggest starting by
looking in
one of these threads
. Or search with more specific
terms, or look in
this area
if there isn't a particular utility for
your brand. In ther worst case you'd have to fiddle
with the number and make a trial-error process until
you find, but examining the default files in the
makeHex directory should give you an idea.

3-Now that you have the codes, you have to enter them in the harmony configuration. You can access the
harmony advanced menu unfortunately this option only lets you enter ONE code for your device :( (If someone knows a way to enter more tell me). The only alternative seems to send a mail to *ahem*"customer support" to have them enter the codes for you.
If you still want to enter the advanced menu (if you just care about one command)
The process is explained in details in this thread. In our case use the lase entry, leave the upper field to "pronto" and paste the codes in the lower field, then press process a couple of times.
