I had problems with my 885 docking station for charging my 885 remote, and have called logitech support.

they directed me to Canada support, who are taking care of replacements.

The women on the line asked me for the PID of the remote, as well as the PID of the docking station, and told me it was a known problem, and that the docking station I had was an "old one"... that they have produced new "models" to solve the issue.

She told me mine was a "faulty" one after I have given the PID.

Have you ever heard Logitech issued new models of thei docking stations to solve the charging issues ?

I've had new cradles sent to me with different PID's but haven't got a list.

There have also been slight revisions to the remotes, addressing a loose battery issue which causes the remote to reboot itself amongst other things I guess.

This was for the 880, which should be no different to the 885 with regards to the issues mentioned.

I got my 880 for Christmas so I assume it is new stock but the dock is very fussy about the position of the remote for charging. I taped a small folded up piece of paper on the tail end to tilt the remote into the contacts for better charging.

Was debating about contacting Logitech to see if they had a better solution.

Jimbo...

I just got a confimration mail about replacement of my "docking station" (sorry, I do not know the English word).
They will replace it for my "charging" problem.

I called the helpdesk back this morning, asking what I should do with the "wrong" docking station ... anf they told I ncan keep it !!

We'll see

Yes, I had a new Battery and Docking Station sent to me and they didn't ask for the old one back.

I guess if it's an old and incorrect design then all they'll do is bin it so it's probably cheaper to get you to do that rather then pay to have you send it back to them.

ok ...

Have you noticed any "visual" difference between the faulty and the new one ?
Have they changed the design of the "docking station" ?

P.S. : Just got a mail from Logitech telling the shipment is in progress ...

ok, I finally got my replacement docking station.
I'm seeing any visual difference between the old one and the new one, but it seems like the new one is solving the problem.

With the old one, when putting the docking on a table with the remote, moving the remote a little bit up and down, it makes some bips (Meaning the contact between the remote and docking is not correct)

With the new one, in the same position, even trying to move the remote on the docking up and down, it stays "charging" - So the contact is much better I think.

Model is the same, only the serial number is changing ...
