I have the Harmony 676 remote. I went through the initial set up for the electronics I am using; everything worked with the exception of the tv powering on. However using the remote help function corrected this issue. In an effort to get the remote to turn the power on for the tv, I went through the menus on the website. Two problems now exist:
The remote will not change to the appropriate input when changing betwenn activites.
The remote does not automatically turn tv on for without help menu.
The remote appears to be having an issue accessing the input menu for the tv. I have attempted to program it by using the option of accessing the menu and using a number to go to the input desired.
I am using the original remote to answer the questions and programming ir buttons requested, however cannot get it dialed in. It worked initially prior to my working on the power issue.
Any help is appreciated.

When the "Help" button fixes the problem, then it's a timing issue. Increase the Power On delay. I checked your Panasonic TH-42PX6U device and it has discrete commands for both the power and the input selection. Try these commands in device mode paying attention to their action (discrete, toggle, or cycling). It the discrete (direct) commands work, then redo the "Adjust Power Setting" (different button for On/Off), and redo the "Input Settings" (I go directly to the input I want ) to use the discrete method instead the "Mickey-Mouse" toggle/cycling method.

Read your TV user manual.

Not really, since it's a plasma. If it was a digital microdisplay (LCD, DLP, etc.) then DVI or HDMI might be better to avoid Digital to Analog conversion. If you're having problems with color and you're using component cables check the cable connections.
