Has anyone successfully got slow motion or skip to tick to work on their HR20-700 DVR with the Harmony 880 remote?

These work with the original HR20 remote but I can't get them to work with my 880. Both commands involve holding down buttons for a second or two.

Is there anyway to program this "hold down" time directly into a button on the 880? Thanks for any suggestions.

Try learning the command in "raw" mode.

For the Device go to "More options" -> "Lean infrared commands" and select the "Custom" button at the bottom. When you learn the command hold the key down for the required one or two seconds.

This is on my to-do list but I haven't had time to work with it. Maybe over the holidays.

I will give raw mode a try sometime this weekend, akirby if you have any success, please let me know. Thanks.

After further investigation and experimentation, I have determined that the original HR20 remote sends an additional signal to the box after 3 seconds if the button is held down for the duration. An "acknowledge" light flashes on the box when it "sees" a command from the remote

I can sometimes duplicate this with my 880 if I hold down the correct button for 3 seconds, release, then hit the button again.

For instance, for skip to tick:
Original remote -> hold down "FF" for 3 seconds
880 -> hold down "FF" for 3 seconds, release, press "FF" again and release.

So, this brings up a few questions:
1. Do remotes in general continually send a signal as long at the button remains pressed?
2. Is it possible the HR20 remote is programmed to send a different signal after 3 seconds if held down? (I think unlikely)
3. Can this be programmed to the 880 in raw mode? (button held down for 3 sec, release, press again)
4. When fast-forwarding a program, an additional press of the "ff" button increases the fast-forward speed. If the remote re-sends the same signal after 3 seconds when held down (performing a "skip to tick") how does the box differentiate this from a button press to increase the FF speed? (sorry if this question is confusing, the answer to this one is probably the key to figuring everything out)

btw here's some additional remote functionality for the HR20 that may not be well documented :)

slo-mo: Hold down "play" for 3 sec
skip to tick (forward): Hold down "ff" for 3 sec
skip to tick (back): Hold down "rew" for 3 sec
end of program: Hold down "slip" (30 sec fwd) for 3 sec
beginning of program: Hold down "repeat" (8 sec back) for 3 sec

None of which hold a candle to Tivo for ease of use. I wonder if any of those are patented like the skip back coming out of rewind?

I'm also having trouble getting the 880 to perform the "hold" features for the HR20. Have you had any luck?

Haven't had time to play with it - I'll try to do that next week. Then again I don't use those features very often anyway, even with the OEM remote. I hate the way they designed those features.

Has anyone found a way to do this yet?

My 880 controls the HR20 "tricks" fairly well. I sometimes have to press and hold more than once to get the trick to perform. I also noticed that it will not skip to the next tick unless it forward of the tick just skipped to. The Inter-Key delay=0

I saw this post and I had a question I just had the HR20-700 installed and I cant get it to work with my Harmony 676. What is the exact title that you used when you set up the PVR with your Harmony? What else did you do to get it to control the PVR? Even when I put the remote into device mode, none of the commands work. So I must have done something wron. I have used so many variations of the name of the device (eg HR-2 700, HR 20-700S,etc) Thanks
