I just bought a Logitech Harmony 680 to control my home theater. I pretty much have everything set up (still need to make some small adjustments) except that my remote will turn off my Motorola DCT6412 cable box/DVR when I want to stop watching TV. I need to have he DVR on all the time to be able to record programs when I'm not watching TV. I have the remote set to control all the functions of the cable box but it includes turning it off every time I want to stop watching TV. I tried going into the set-up via my computer but I can't find where to tell the remote to stop turning off the cable box. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You're looking under the activity - you need to look at the DVR device. Customize->Adjust power settings->Leave device on all the time.

Thanks akirby. I figured it out. The learning curve is a bit steep as a newbie with Harmony remotes but I'm learning!

yakuza1970.........I don't know what kind of setup you have exactly, but I have two DVR's, one of which is the Motorola DCT6412, and I don't have to leave either of them on in order to record programs. In fact, my cable provider, COX Communications, sends program guide updates during the wee hours of the night and if the DVR(s) are left on, they will not receive the updates. Schedule a recording and then turn your DVR off. I think you'll find that it will record just fine.

True, but a stupid design. I've had Tivos and DirecTV DVRs (and DirecTivos) and they don't even have power buttons. They update automatically without being shutdown.

Uh, the DVR does not have to be on to record. It has to be plugged in, but the power does not have to be on.
