Is the Harmony 890 RF only for communicating with the IR bridge, or can it be used to control RF controlled equipment as well (i.e. we have a ceiling fan that has an RF remote, we'd like to consolidate the remotes so we only have to use one).

It will only control Z-wave compatible devices (I doubt your fan is Z wave). RF devices are designed NOT to interfere with each other.
