SMR reported from CES:

"The software powering the Harmony is also available for the Palm platform, and as a .ccf file for the Philips Pronto, enabling them to perform in the same manner. A version for the Pocket PC platform is promised for the near future. [NRP]"

Hello All,

Thanks for all your support while we were at the CES in Las Vegas. The show exceeded our expectations by many orders of magnitude.

As you have heard, we announced that we will be releasing a version of the Harmony that will run on a Palm. We were demonstrating a functional version at the show (running on a Palm M100, Palm V, and Sony Clie T415), but the released version will not be available for download until early February.

We were also displaying a 'concept' version of what the Harmony technology *may* look like on the Philips Pronto platform. Unfortunately, despite the rumors, this is not yet a product. However, we have received massive interest in both Pronto and Pocket PC versions, and are very interested in supporting these and other platforms in the future with Smart State Technology.

Based on the incredible interest (and orders!) that we received during the show, we will be undergoing significant expansion in the next few months. This expansion will be financed by an investment round and is designed to increase our software development, customer service and corporate relationship departments.

We started out as a small company, and could not have made it this far without the support of our beta testers and customers. It is through your great suggestions (please keep them coming!) that we have been able to make it this far.

Thanks.

The Harmony Team.

Did I remember reading somewhere on the other forums here that Palm/WinCE LEDs didn't have enough power to change channels from farther than 6-7 feet, or something like that?

This is true, only the Sony CLIE T415 & T615C have a built in IR transmitter worthy of doing double suty as a Remote control device.

most PDAs were not designed as remotes, and their range is limitted. But a lot of people still use them (look at the PDA forum), a lot of them also get some sort of booster or an IR-RF-IR IR extender. But how far it will transmit depends also on other factors
1) batteries
2) equipment at other end
3) location of equipment
