Likely the 659 or 676. I know they are virtually identical underneath the hood, bar the extra infrared beam in the 659. The extra infrared would actually come in handy for me though since my audio reciever is on the opposite side of the room of my TV.

What I would like to achieve with this remote is as follows:

*Pressing movie activity button would switch TV & reciever inputs to the video/audio inputs the dvd is connected to.

*Pressing TV activity button would likewise switch TV & reciever to the video/audio input of the cable box.

*Pressing music activity button would switch reciever and tv input to that of cable box, and also have the cable box switch channels to a defined channel.

Will this remote be able to handle these tasks? Thankyou for your help.

Thanks for the quick response jlet. I ran through the test drive and it didnt really allow me much flexibility over what I wanted it to do. Is there a more advanced way to configure the remote than the web thingy?

Unfortunatly not.

The old days allowed you to hack the upload as it was readable XML. I doubt this is available now.

The Web GUI gets mixed responses in these forums - you either love it or hate it.

The one saving grace is that once your remote is 'ideally' set up, you won't have to use it so often.

Depends on what type of flexibility you're looking for. You can customize each device and each activity any way you want. The one restriction is you can't simply program one button macros to send a string of commands (there are workarounds for some scenarios). The good news is you rarely need them as it already takes care of switching power and inputs when switching activities.

What exactly would you like to do?

The Test Drive does not reveal the full flexibility of the Harmony web software. Basically, it is just the initial setup. Once you complete that, you get access to a "Home Page" where you can customize such things as the button layout, create additional devices, set up macros to run at activity start and end, and so on.
