I picked up a Harmony 880 to give "activities" based remote control a whirl. Not sure if I prefer it over my MX-500 but I'm trying to keep an open mind. I think the 880's keys are too small and I'd probably be happier with a different Harmony model. We'll see.

But, all of the above is a moot point if the remote doesn't do what I need it to do as far as discreet codes and input selection is concerned. I've got a new JVC HD70FH96 1080p set and its own remote doesn't offer direct input selection. Very annoying. Fortunately, the Harmony gives me direct input selection for the JVC's Video 1 through Video 4 inputs, as well as the Digital Input 1. But NOT the Digital Input 2.

I guess the Digital Input 2 feature is new to JVC's 1080p sets. Harmony just hasn't caught up yet. I need direct selection for both Digital Inputs. Is anyone aware of a method to "acquire" the necessary IR code via another remote so I can then use the Harmony to learn the code?

In lieu of that, how long does it take Harmony to update their database with new features like this? The 1080p sets have been out for four months now. You'd think they would have updated it already.

Lastly, it also seems that the Harmony lacks true discreet Power ON and Power OFF for the JVC. After programming, the Harmony gives me separate buttons for ON and OFF but OFF turns the set off AND on and ON turns the set on AND off. Obviously, each button has the same IR code (the standard, non-discreet, power code).

Thanks in advance!

1) If you can go to the "Digital Input 2" from "Digital Input 1" by pressing the "InputNext" command, then you can setup a "pseudo" discrete command for your "Digital Input 2". Run the "Adjust Inputs" again and tell it you use more than one command and use the "Digital Input 1" followed by the "InputNext" command.
2) Do you get this weird powering behaviour when you use the "PowerOn" and "PowerOff" commands in device mode?

Wow, I've got a 56HF96 and I bought the 880 for the exact same reason! I use ONLY Digital 1 and Digital 2 so this seems like it would be an issue getting both to work. I sure hope not, I'm going to program and try it tonight. Why can't there just be a Digital 2? Have you spoken to Logitech about this, maybe it was just a uploading error. Seems unbelievable that they wouldn't have all the inputs for a 4 month old TV.

I e-mailed Harmony 3 days ago and they have yet to respond.
