I have a 688 remote, but one of the buttons died on me, so I have two options:

1) RMA the unit with Logitech

2) Best Buy has a 360 remote for only $20 less than I paid for my 688 and I can do a direct swap for that one (or pay $100 extra for the 880, but can't afford it right now)

I "may" be getting a 360 soon.

Logitech's website show's the 688 as being A LOT more expensive than the 360. Best Buy says they don't carry it anymore and Logitech's not making them anymore.

How is the 360 in relation to the 688? Does anyone know and have compared them?

Thanks.

Yes, I had a 688 and now have a 360. I greatly prefer the 360. I thought the buttons on the 688 were too flat and close together, making it difficult to recognize them by feel. I sold my 688 and bought a 680, and then gave the 680 away and bought a 360, which I like even better.

Why I like it
-It is extremely light and well balanced
-It has lots of programmable buttons compared to other Harmony models
-The buttons are different shapes and textures, making them easily recongizable by feel
-The 4 colored buttons, while not essential, are convenient for the XBox 360
-The screen is *much* clearer than on the 6xx series.
-The software conveniently supports reordering activities, which the 6xx series does not

Caveats:
-It doesn't have a Media button (I never used it anyway)
-It doesn't have Sound & Picture buttons (I never used these either, as I prefer to add needed device commands to Activities)
-It will only support 12 devices, instead of 16 like the 6xx series.

Note that the new 550 is very much clike the 360, has Sound and Picture buttons, and also supports 16 devices.

I don't actually need them, since I have a TiVo, which has a very efficient interface that doesn't require page buttons (it uses the Channel and Fast forward/Rewind buttons to page through screens), but the X and A buttons are available and convenient. Or you can use two of the LCD buttons. I set up a 520 for my sister, who has a Scientific Atlanta Box, which has a truly atrocious user interface that requires a very large number of buttons, including Page buttons. In that case, I used two LCD buttons on the same side of the screen, which works out very conveniently.
