I have the Sony RM-AV3000. I just recently bought the 880. While the 880 is sleek, cool, and customizable. It sucks by comparison. The fact that you need to scroll left and right through pages of commands (ie 1 of 11, 2 of 8) Its just a time killer. What I was able to do in seconds with the Sony, takes minutes with the 880. I suggest to anyone who is thinking of getting the 880, reconsider. Its bells and whistles, and nothing more. Not easy to use, meaning all the buttons are the same, there is no difference it terms of shapes, sizes and button feel. The only thing I did like was the fact that it is the same shape of the Tivo Remote. I suggest to EVERYONE try Sony's Commanders. They are SO MUCH BETTER!

Apples to oranges. Touchscreen vs. hard buttons, hand-held vs. table-top.

Harmony has it's pro's and con's, just as Sony does. I switched from an AV-2100 to a 676 about a year ago, and would NEVER consider going back, but that's my opinion.

YMMV.

If you're having to scroll through more than 2 pages of commands then you don't have it setup properly.

You should be using Activities to control everything with as many buttons as possible mapped to the hard buttons and the rest of the ones you use more than once a week mapped to the activity LCD buttons. The ones you only use once or twice a month or less can be accessed via Device mode.

Based on your description it sounds like you're using Device mode all the time.

I agree 100% with Akirby!
You're most likely not using it correctly...
I used to have the Sony rm-av3000, and will NEVER look to ANY remote again.

I disagree. I am using it correctly. I am using Activities to control everything, however, not everything works correctly through this method. Sometimes I do need to hit a button that I use once and month. And I end up having to scroll through pages of stuff. I don't have a $100 TV either, mine is a little more sophistocated and has tons of options, and without it readily available I was getting annoyed with the 880.

I agree with S Deeter, to each their own. PS. You need an internet connection to udate the 880? I have one but I didn't like that they did it like that.

So why not add that to the Activity's custom LCD screen? Are you really saying that scrolling through a device list a few times a month is that terrible?

Again...I agree with Akirby..
Just add the button you occasionaly use to the LCD screen within the activity mode. You should pretty much "never" need to go within the device mode area. Maybe for initial setup of (let's say) a new receiver, but once everything is ready to go, you pretty much don't need it anymore.

Doesn't matter, its GONE. That screen was a little too small for me anyway. I got the Sony 4000, and only having it for 12 hours I am super happy with it. Everything is right there on the screen. I appriciate your comments.

I got the 880 to replace my Sony 3000. I guess I also felt that for $250 this thing should do EVERYTHING exactly as I wanted. I felt that it was "slower" than my Sony. Again, to each their own.
