Hi Everybody,

I am trying to use Harmony 525 remote to control my Philips Mini-System. I want to have only one Activity - 'Mini System' where I am able to choose CD, Tuner or Tape. I created this Activity as Generic and added buttons to switch among CD, Tuner and Tape. This works ok.
My problem is, that some buttons work only for CD, but they don't work for Tape or Tuner. In the beginning, buttons like Play, Rewind, Stop, Next Track etc didn't work at all, so I had to teach harmony to use them. I used 'Analyzed' option for learning.
But it still doesn't work ok. These buttons work currently only for CD. If I switch my Mini-System to Tape or Tuner, these buttons don't work.
Any help?

Sounds very strange .... the fact that they work the CD shows that they are being sent.

I assume that you switch to Tape or Tuner by pressing a button on the remote.

Is it possible that the Play, Rewind, etc. buttons on the remote sends different commands depending whether you last selected CD, Tape or Tuner on the remote?
[Although I have never encountered a remote that does this I cannot think of any other reason to explain what you have reported.]

My guess is different transport commands are used for each mode as it would in the case of separate devices. Your mini system simply integrates these separate devices into a single device. If this is the case, then you will have to use separate activities and possibly have to learn the transport commands for each mode.

You are going about it the wrong way, trying to cram multiple activities into one. Effectively, you are trying to force the Harmony to act as a device oriented remote, which is not what it is designed to do.

You should make CD one activity, Tuner another, and tape another. You can then teach the transmport commands from the remote in the corresponding mode.
