I have a Harmony 885 (Euro version of the 880) and am very pleased with it. I now have it doing everything I want with the exception of one tiny problem.

I have IR controlled lights and I am able to turn them on and off aswell as dim them with my Harmony remote.

I have managed to program the light activity so that it does not effect any of the other devices and also the other activities so that they don't interfere with the lights.

The problem comes when I am finished viewing for the evening. I hit the 'Off' button and all the devices turn off as expected but the room is plunged into darkness because my lights are switched off aswell.

How can I isolate the lights device from the 'Off' command - is it possible?

Cheers,

Nigel

You can't program the off button directly. But you could configure the lights device to be left on at all times, in which case the Harmony would not attempt to turn them on or off. You could still add the commands for the lights to your other activities (if you add the lights as an additional device to the activities in question)

This is what puzzles me. I have set the lights device to be 'left on all the time' - I did this when I found other activities were turning the lights off.

As a result, my lights are now independent of the other activities but is still effected by the 'Off' button.

I'll keep playing to see if I can make any more sense of it.

Cheers,

Nigel

It has been reported on this forums that the "left on all the time" option is buggy and you should try using the "There are no power buttons" option instead.

This can be programmed.

Basically you need to access the Activity troubleshooting section for what you want to do.

Just configure the after activity to turn on the lights.

-Activity
-Troubleshoot
-"No, I want to change these settings".
-Click Next 3x till you get to "Please review..." section.
-Select "Yes, but I want to add more control of options and devices for this Activity."
-Add the Lighting device or if it's already added select "Save".
-Select "Next" 1x
-Configure the "When you leave this Activity..." section with what you need.

It's hidden in their but the ability to turn on your lights afterward can be done.

I hope this helps.

Thanks very much. Using the 'no power switch' option did the job.

Cheers,

Nigel
