It records regardless. That is a strange design.

I will try it again.. but every time I've tested it (turning off the DVR while it's recording), it has stopped the recording. Maybe if it's a preprogrammed recording, it doesn't stop... but every time I manually start recording, then turn the DVR off, it stops recording... BUT I will test again.
