Typical...

I got my 895 on Thursday and was gonna wait to come from a business trip today for test and configuration. It has been charging the hole weekend and I installed the software and connected it today. After creating an account I connected the remote and first thing that I didn't like was the fail in communication with the remote. I restarted the PC and everything was going ok until... fail updating the firmware. WTF? I went to the website as indicated and updated from there. Everything appeared to be going ok. After finishing the setup I went to test my activities and the stupid thing DON'T DO ANYTHING! It just stays there and hangs right after I press an activity button. Only way to making go out of the stupid "Starting (insert activity name here)..." is to remove the battery.

I am returning this peace of $@%&$*! immediately and will ask for a new one. The bad thing is that I bought it from an online store and it will take days for the new one to arrive.

Just wanted to let you know, I am really pissed off at the moment.

Thanks for listening.

I really know the feeling!!!

I called the support and got help yesterday and the day before that (45 minutes + 30 minutes).

Here's the fix:
1. Connect the "extender" to the computer. (Make sure the computer recognises the extender: you should see a "Human Interface Device" under "Control panel", System, Hardware, "Device manager")
2. Start the "Logitech Harmony Remote" software (either the local or through the Harmony website).
3. Select "connectivity" at the top of the window.
4. Are both the remote and the extender listed? If not: add the missing unit.
5. Update the firmware in the extender. (follow the instructions)
6. Update the firmware in remote. (follow the instructions)
7. Add devices, activities and voila, it works! At least it does for me!

Note. Do not update the "Logitech Harmony Remote" software! The version you get then will not work (according to me and the support verfied this also), and it seems to cause a java error to the version supplied on the CD coming with the Harmony. The java error remains even if you uninstall the "update version". The support said (yesterday) they are working on new software and documentation. (Maybe the should have done that a few months ago or so ...)

One good thing: I did find the Logitech support to be most helpful and kind!

Good for you. I returned the remote and BOUGHT a new one from another online retailer. It was faster to do it like this and ask for a refund from the other guys.

What I really don't like is that support has not a local number in Norway, it is an international number. This is totally crazy!

It is true, I have already contacted them. Problem is that if the phone is closed to international calls it doesn't dial that number. I had to try from home and not from the work.
