I've had my Harmony SST-768 for about a week & I'm generally very impressed. I do have one problem that I can't seem to work around at the moment that I could use some help with.

I have a Toshiba 34HDX82 television. While most of the IR commands seem to be the same as other Toshiba TV's there are some differences - the one I'm having problems with is input switching. When you send IR:InputNext to the TV, it comes up with a input select screen - you can then enter a digit from 0 to 7 to actually select the input you want. Once you've entered the number, the menu remains onscreen for a few seconds before disappearing. If the input menu is onscreen and you send another IR:InputNext, it will go to the next input. Again, leaving it for a few seconds will cause the menu to disappear.

I've configured my TV so that Ant1 will send IR:InputNext, IR:0 and ColorStream1 will send IR:InputNext, IR:4, etc.

The problem is that while I can specify an Input timeout, it appears to happen after the IR:InputNext and before the number key. I want it to happen after I've sent both keys. Or some method of specifying a delay manually after I've sent the number.

This especially causes problem when switching to watch a videotape as it starts trying to switch the TV to channel 03 whiile the input menu is still on the screen.

I've sent this question to Harmony tech support but it sounds like they're pretty backed up. Hopefully I'm not the only one with this problem and someone else has solved it.

I've configured my Thomson TV to switch input almost as Your Toshiba. The difference is that I send 3 IR to select a input: InputNext - Program - number. IR:Program brings up the input select screen on my TV, and the input select screen don't automatically disapear from my TV. My Interkey-delay is 200 and Input-delay is 1500. I don't think the Input-delay appears after InputNext in my setup, but that's not a problem anyway since it's the IR:Program which brings up the input select screen on my TV.

I can think about 2 solutions to try in Your setup:
1) Reduce Your Input-delay so the delay don't cause the problem when sending the number to the input select screen. To actually insert a delay which should appear AFTER selecting the input in an activity, this can be done at the end of the activity-wizard when running the wizard in advanced mode.
After I inserted a 1000ms delay at the end of my "Watch a Video"-activity, the <SETUPACTIONS>
look like this in my XML:
<SETUPACTIONS>
   <SETUP>
      <DEVICENAME>4246</DEVICENAME>
      <OPERATION>SetInput Video</OPERATION>
   </SETUP>
   <SETUP>
      <DEVICENAME>4049</DEVICENAME>
      <OPERATION>SetInput Video</OPERATION>
   </SETUP>
   <SETUP>
      <TARGET>SsInfrared</TARGET>
      <OPERATION>SendDelay 1000 TV</OPERATION>
   </SETUP>
</SETUPACTIONS>

(Device 4246 is my TV, 4049 is the receiver. I've renamed my Television to "TV" -> therefore You see TV at the end of SendDelay 1000 TV)

2) As You describe Your problem, it sounds that Harmony is "to clever": If a Input delay is configured, Harmony always insert this delay after the InputNext IR is sent. What about trying to cheat Harmony? Digitize Your own InputNext code into Your TV-language (MyInputNext) and use that IR in Your input-selection setup of the TV.

Keep us informed......

JI

Thanks for the tip. I set the InputTimeout to 0 in the Timings dialog and just added the SendDelay XML as needed to the SETUP sections for my Watch TV, Watch Video & Watch DVD activities. Works like a treat.

Now that I got it working maybe I'll attack state variables when I get a chance. It ticks me off that it keeps setting the input when it should already know what it is.

Anyway, thanks again.
